About Us

As a young(ish) married couple living in Chicago, the idea for Grasshopper 510 came out of our own recurring struggles to find eco-conscious gifts right in our own city. For years, we considered a variety of entrepreneurial business ideas based on environmental concepts, but we found ourselves returning over and over again to the idea of a retail venture. With a store, we felt we could reach a lot of people, and we ourselves knew the challenges consumers face when trying to research and purchase green products. We realize that our one store is not going to save the world, but we also believe that every little bit counts. By offering a collection of truly eco-friendly products, we hope Grasshopper 510 provides people with choices and options they can feel good about.

Once we opened our doors in May 2008 we started hearing the same questions over and over: Do you offer gift registries? Can you ship gifts? Can I buy things from your website?

Naturally, we couldn't disappoint our customers so the on-line shopping portion of Grasshopper 510 was born. In January 2011, we decided to close our physical location to focus on our on-line store, where we will continue to offer the high quality, eco-friendly products for which we are known.
