Returns & Exchanges

If you are not happy with your online purchase, you may mail it back to us for a refund in the original method of payment.  Please email or call us to receive a return authorization number and then mail to:

Please note:

  • Items must be post-marked within 10 days of receipt of purchase for a full refund.  Items post-marked after 10 days will receive a store credit, and returns post-marked after 30 days will not be accepted.
  • Items must be in their original, undamaged condition with tags attached.
  • Shipping and handling charges are non-refundable.
  • Items may be returned in person at our Damen Avenue location for store credit only.
  • All sale items, earrings, personal care items such as lotions and soaps, and custom orders are final sale—no returns or exchanges.

Shipping & Handling

Most orders are shipped via UPS Ground from our store location in Chicago.  Because of their hand-crafted nature, some pieces may be shipped directly from the designer.  Depending upon location, most orders will arrive within 4-10 business days after your order is placed.   In addition to UPS Ground, you may also select UPS Next Day Air, 2nd Day Air, and 3-Day Select for faster delivery.  Once your package has been delivered to UPS, you will receive a tracking number.

In-store pickup
Many items purchased on-line may be picked up at our 1944 North Damen Avenue location.  If you chose this option, please select “in-store pickup” as your shipping address. You will receive an email notification when your order is ready for pick up. For return purposes, items picked up at our store will be treated as an in-store purchase, and are eligible for store credit or exchange only. 

Special Shipping
Due to their hand-crafted nature or weight, some of our items may not be immediately available or they may require more care in shipping. Any item with special circumstances will be noted on the product page, and we will contact you with a shipping quote and timeframe before processing your order.

Item Availability
If an item in your order is no longer available due to its unique nature, please accept our apologies. In this situation, we will notify you immediately via email.

International Shipping
To make certain that our international customers receive the most competitive shipping rates, international orders will receive a shipping quote via email.  We will wait to receive your approval on this quote before completing your order, and at that point your credit card will be charged.

All duties, taxes, or fees required to be paid outside of the United States are the sole responsibility of the customer.

PO Boxes
Unfortunately we are not able to ship to P.O. Boxes.  Please provide a physical address to ensure safe delivery of your order.

Shipping Damage
If you receive an item that has been damaged in shipping, please notify us immediately and we will file a claim with the shipper.  Please DO NOT dispose of the damaged merchandise or packaging until we tell you to do so.  Disposal of the damaged merchandise or packaging without our authorization may void any damage claim and no credit or replacement will be issued.

Gift Card
If you would like to include a gift message in your shipment, please type your note in the Gift Message section during checkout.

 

Sales Tax

Items shipped within the state of Illinois will be charged a sales tax rate of 10.25%.
 

Our Privacy Statement

We neither sell nor share your information with outside companies or third parties.

When you purchase from our online store, we collect your name, billing and shipping addresses, phone number, e-mail address, and credit card information. You provide this information so we can process and ship your order. We respect your privacy by not selling or sharing this information.

We encourage you to sign-up for our e-mailing list. These letters provide you with advanced notice of store sales, new merchandise, and other store-related events. But, of course, you have the freedom to add or remove your name from our list at any time.

Online Security

Your credit card is completely safe.

Protecting your information is our highest priority. We have developed several safeguards to keep your information completely confidential. To proceed to checkout, you must enter your e-mail address and create a password. The checkout process itself employs Secure Sockets Layer (SSL)* technology to insure your safety.

*Secure Sockets Layer encrypts your order information and sends it to a secure server, making it impossible for that information to be decoded by a party outside of the store you shop with.

Furthermore, only our store will have your information; other members of the Modern Retail community will not have access to your information unless you decide to shop with them.

To check the security of your connection during checkout, look for the unbroken key or closed lock at the bottom of your browser window. This indicates SSL is active.

Shopping Online

To add an item to your bag, simply click the add to bag button next to it. (Items you put in your bag will not be bought by you until you have completed the checkout process.)

To remove an item from your bag, simply click the remove link next to the item you wish to discard.

To view what is in your bag at any time, click the "shoppingBag" link in the page header.

To purchase what you've selected, click on your shoppingBag and click "checkout". Follow the three simple steps to purchase your items.

Once we have confirmed your order, an account for you is automatically established for the Modern Retail community of stores.

To access your account in the future, click the "myAccount" button in the header of any page and enter the e-mail address and password you created at checkout.  (If you have not been through checkout, but would like to create an account, simply click on my account and follow the steps to create a new account.)
